DIVERSIFAIR General Assembly Meeting: Key Highlights and Next Steps

The DIVERSIFAIR third General Assembly (GA) meeting took place last week in Dublin, bringing together project partners for a series of in-depth discussions on AI governance, regulatory developments, and inclusive education. The event, hosted by consortium partner University College Dublin (UCD), provided a great opportunity for collaboration as the project progresses into its next phases.

Key Developments and Discussions

Mapping AI Regulation & Governance Frameworks

The first version of the mapping of AI regulation has been published, offering a structured overview of the current regulatory landscape (explore here). Discussions also focused on the forthcoming typology of AI harms and governance tools, led by TNO, UCD, and Sciences Po, which will provide further insights into AI risks and mitigation strategies.

Educational Resources and Capacity Building

Participants were introduced to the AI ethics course developed by Turing College, alongside a demonstration of the software created by CorTexter, both designed to enhance practical applications of ethical AI development.

Upcoming Training and Awareness Initiatives

Plans for a series of educational activities were presented, with coordination led by Women 4 Cyber and Women in AI. These initiatives will build on the educational toolkits and play a key role in equipping diverse stakeholders with the knowledge and tools needed to engage with AI responsibly.

AI Audits: Strengthening Transparency and Accountability

An outlook on the upcoming audit work conducted by Eticas, highlighting the importance of independent assessments in AI systems. After the audit of RisCanvi (released in July 2024), used in the criminal justice system, four new ones are set to be launched, contributing to greater transparency and fairness in AI applications.

Next Steps and Engagement Opportunities

With significant progress underway, DIVERSIFAIR remains committed to advancing inclusive and ethical AI governance. Stakeholders are encouraged to stay informed and involved by subscribing to the DIVERSIFAIR newsletter.

The consortium would like to thank UCD for hosting this productive and engaging meeting.
