DIVERSIFAIR Paper on Intersectional AI Fairness Published at ACM FAccT 2025

We are pleased to announce that a paper developed as part of the DIVERSIFAIR project has been accepted for publication at the prestigious ACM Conference on Fairness, Accountability, and Transparency (FAccT)!

The paper, titled “Fairness beyond the Algorithmic Frame: Actionable Recommendations for an Intersectional Approach”, is authored by Steven Vethman, Quirine T.S. Smit, Nina M. van Liebergen, and Cor J. Veenman, and will be presented during the Participatory AI session on Thursday 26 June in Athens.

The paper challenges prevailing, technical-only approaches to fairness in AI and offers practical recommendations grounded in intersectional thinking, drawing from feminist and social justice traditions. This work is part of DIVERSIFAIR’s broader mission to explore how algorithmic systems can be developed with greater attention to structural inequalities and real-world contexts.

We warmly invite attendees of FAccT 2025 to join the session and engage with the authors’ work.
📅 Participatory AI session: Thursday 26 June, 10:45 AM
📍 Athens Conservatoire, Greece
